I can't believe it's been over a month since I've posted. Linda and I spent a great week in Asheville, NC, not much 2D art but tons of pottery and woodwork. We really enjoy all that the downtown has to offer.

Linda just found out that the painting that was accepted into the Artist Professional League show at the Salmagundi Club in New York won the "Helen DeCozen Award For a Floral". This is Linda's second national award in two years. The other was the "Founders' Award for Excellence in Painting" from the American Academy of Equine Art in Lexington, KY.

Linda has been so busy with the business side of her career the last few weeks she has barely had time to paint. That should be changing soon as she fulfills some commitments to benefit auctions and a possible local solo show.

Linda is back from her trip to Seattle visiting her friend Denise. She has been down with a cold since she got back, but hopes to be back painting in a couple of days. I survived my 5 days home alone on my usual bachelor diet of popcorn and peanut butter. The dog spent the whole time keeping vigil at the front door waiting for Linda to come home. The American Academy of Equine Art show is up on their website; http://www.aaea.net/catalogs/fall06/ they haven't announced the awards yet. Linda's painting is near the end in alphabetical order. Also look at Lynne Lockhart's painting it is real good. Lynne is in Main Street Gallery with Linda.

We're back from our trip to Bethlehem, PA, it was a great trip. It rained two days so we worked on still life paintings indoors, but did get in one plein air landscape day. Thanks to Pat and Sandy for taking such good care of us. Great food, good wine, and painting what else could you ask for in a trip. I will try to post pictures of our paintings when they are digital.

Linda is working hard to get paintings ready for two national juried shows; One for the American Academy of Equine Art in Lexington, KY, and the second for the American Artists Professional League at the Salmagundi Club New York, NY.

She just finished up a successful show with Oatlands Plantation in Leesburg, VA. and has several paintings in the Aldie Mill show in Aldie, VA.

This is the Blog for Linda L Volrath and Steven J Parrish, we are both fine art oil painters living in Virginia. We met at a painting workshop in Taos, NM studying with Gregg Kreutz. We were married several years later after a lengthy long distance relationship. This blog is mainly to keep our friends and family up to date on our life together.
